IMT Practical Procedures and Skills

The Internal Medical Practical Procedures course is designed for doctors entering internal medical training. HEKSS recognises the importance of ensuring that internal medical trainees are supported in developing key procedural skills and ensuring that they become competent and confident to perform commonly required practical procedures. This course will be taking place on 29th May and 3rd July.

Course content:

  • Insertion of central venous lines under ultrasound guidance
  • Ascitic fluid aspiration
  • Knee joint aspiration
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Nasogastric tube insertion

 

The Internal Medical Practical Skills course also goes hand in hand and attendance is required for both to complete ARCP. This course will be taking place on 17th April, 15th May and 12th June. 

Course content:

  • Non-invasive ventilation
  • Pleural fluid aspiration (diagnostic / therapeutic)
  • Intercostal chest drain insertion
