Paediatrics - Teaching and e-Portfolio
A wide variety of learning approaches have been adopted within the Directorate including web-based learning, ward-based clinical teaching, exposure to outpatients, group learning, private study, courses, reflective practice, audit projects, regular teaching specific to year and speciality and also multi-speciality teaching which would include community paediatrics and safeguarding training.
Protected teaching sessions are in place and the programme is linked to curricula.
At a Regional level paediatric trainees are encouraged to attend their regional training days, some of these are provided at Darent Valley Hospital.
Trainees are required to keep their e-Portfolios up to date; this is regularly monitored by the Clinical Education Department and support provided as required. This is a key aspect of a trainee’s learning in the programme and is an essential mandatory requirement as it provides an audit of progress and learning.
